Are we about to see a re-run of the Witney Floods of July 2007?

It has now been raining on and off for days in Witney and just walking into work I noticed that the River Windrush is rising. In my opinion it seems to be at the highest level that it has been so far this year

Apparently the Witney Floods of 2007 were partly caused by flood gates being opened somewhere near Burford; however I am not sure how correct this is.

So did anybody here get flooded out last year? Are you concerned that we may get a re-run of the Witney Floods this year or in the future?

I work in the town centre and just outside my office door it has started to flood a little, but it could be that the drains are not working proper. Lets hope that's all it is anyway.

Hi,

There is a 'Flood Watch' on the River Evenlode at the moment - http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/flood/floodwarning/061WAFW05?time=1211803320

But it seems that the Windrush is OK - http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/subjects/flood/floodwarning/10_2?time=1186586100

Lets keep our fingers crossed and hope that this is the end of the rain now...

Come on summer I need my tan

I live right on the River Windrush, in Woodford Mill and this sin't the highest we have seen the water this year. You can still see the whole field of the flood plane behind my house and people are still using the pathway, so no worries here.....yet!!!
I only moved here from Essex/London borders last april and was flooded on 21st July....remember it well as it was my son's 13th birthday! It has taken us until now to get straight and some of the houses here are still being worked on, so lets cross our fingers it doesn't happen again soon, if at all!

Hello babeliciousuk,

So you will keep us updated if it gets worse. I think thats all the rain we are going to get for the next few days.

My partner said that the road by Manor farm was flooded yesterday. If anyone gets any pictures then feel free to share them here.
