An Oxford man is about to trial a groundbreaking new prosthetic limb in the biggest snowboarding event across the globe.
Carl Murphy, 28, from Oxford will compete with the leg in the Colorado National Championships in the United States next week.
"It's a prototype leg - the only one of its kind in the world and I am the guinea pig," he told BBC Oxford.
"The prosthetic leg is expensive - about $10,000."
He added: "There will be a lot of international stars there - Olympians and world pros for example."
Carl had his leg amputated above the ankle shortly after birth because of a congenital defect.
He will compete in three events in the adaptive division in the United States and is hoping to come back with a medal in each.
"I started when i was growing up in New Zealand with a few friends up a mountain," he said.
"Last year I won two gold medals at the New Zealand nationals. I would now like top three placings in all three of my events in Colorado."
Good luck to the Guy, i hope he does really well
