The bridge is going to be closed from 4am to 8:30am to stop people from jumping off the bridge. David Williams suggested putting up nets as a solution so the bridge can stay open while still preventing jumpers. Which idea do you think would be better, closing the bridge or going with the nets?

I guess the authorities' decision to close the Magdalen Bridge in time for the May Day Celebration is a bit harsh. Oh, they may have the best interest in mind - that of keeping the May Day celebrators from jumping down the bridge and sustaining injuries along the way - but it may still be a little bit too much.

I personally go with the net. Like arl1972, I personally feel that the decision to close the Magdalen Bridge in time for the May Day celebration went a bit overboard. Good thing there weren't any broken bones this year, though, when the 4 men managed to jump down the bridge despite all the security!

Haha! As the saying goes, "If there's a will, there's a way". So, what will it gonna be next year? The proposed 3-year closing of the bridge (2005-2008) reached the end of the line. Any ideas?
