Rates for Renting in Oxford 2008/01/29 14:52 Karma: 1
What kind of rental rates on apartments or rooms are there in Oxford? If I am going to be moving in on my own then I need to get a general idea of how expensive the area is to live in and what the best kind of accommodation you'd recommend for students.

I’m glad that you started this thread. I was also thinking the same. I think that it would be best if we have an idea of the renting rates around Oxford prior to renting one for ourselves.

Hopefully someone on here will be able to answer this because I would be curious to know what the rent would be for an apartment. That being said I also wonder if there is a place where you could go to maybe find others that are looking for roommates? That would help to cut the cost down on rent.

I know there are sites like that for areas around me here so even better than knowing rental rates would be a link to some kind of directory for seeing rooms for rent, apartments, etc. This would make me feel a lot better and less afraid of getting cut by someone because I'm from out of the country.

I think that we should ask a local here what sites we should go to. I believe that there is such a site over the internet that we can consult these facts. If only I know that right root words, I can easily find them myself.

You're right. I bet there is a something like that online. I am going to see what I can find and if I find anything I will post it for you guys. I hate searching because like you said it is coming up with the right search phrase.

Rather than the websites i think the local people like ones in this forum can guide and help us better. You can try google and all but you will only get a very generalized information.. if you find anything informative please post it here..

This is a very interesting question. I do hope that someone out there would be very kind enough to guide us on this concern. I have heard that it is more practical to share a flat with someone so that it wouldn't be that expensive. However, I think that I wouldn't really feel that safe sharing a flat with someone I do not know. I have intentions of going to UK to study and I am going alone so if I had to share a flat, it might turn out that I will be sharing it with someone I do not know.

I'd imagine it would be very expensive. Especially with pounds! (It's not nice going from AUD to pounds!) However it should be alright once I get a job there. All I want is a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment on campus or nearby. I really want to avoid having to buy a car there!
