Does anyone here have teens that have joined the Kidlington Air Cadets? Do they enjoy it?

hey katharine, can you tell a bit about Kidlington air cadets? I would like to know about it. Is it an air force academy? Or in simple words a place where pilots are trained?

It's a program for teens (13 to 17) who have an interest in flying, and often in joining the RAF when they're older. They don't all do that, though... it's just a fun youth program for them.

Great! I love flying.. if I would have been there then I would have surely participated. Did you participate when you were young?

i was an air cadet but not over here. since childhood, i always had a fascination for the mean flying machines and came close of realizing my dream by being an air cadet.

I have a few friends who were cadets, some of them going on in military careers and some not. I think it's a good program for kids to go to -- especially the air cadets if they have any interest in joining the RAF or just flying in general. Quite a few of my buddies went on to become pilots which can be quite a satisfying job if you're interested in.

When I was young?! I didn't take part in the air cadets, no. I'm not a big fan of flying at *all* but the program is great for kids who do enjoy it.

It's also a pretty exciting option in place of different youth programs that don't let kids do activities as interesting as learning about air crafts and even going up in the sky. I kind of wish I had had the option of something like this when I was younger as it surely would have beaten swimming and tennis camps hands down.

I think that this is a great opportunity for kids. I have to agree that I wish there would have been something like this when I was growing up. It sure would open doors to doing stuff that kids might never have thought of doing. I think this sounds like a great program. Do you pay a fee to join? Just curious? Thanks.

I wish I had known about the air cadets when I was younger. Since I was a child, I have always had a love for flying. My wife thinks that I am strange, since it is no big deal for her. My youngest seems to love all kinds of airplanes, so hopefully I will have a cadet in the family before too long.
