As long as the outdoor smoking area is not in the main entrance way to the pub, then I am ok with it. I hate places that you have to walk through a huge smoke cloud to get in the building.

I do not see anything wrong with the law. Besides, it's for the best of everyone. For as long as business owners provide a place for smokers, then I do not see anything wrong. Of course pub goers who are non-smokers should also take into consideration that there may be a considerable number of smokers in pubs so they have to be careful in choosing the pub they go to.

Most of the places that I have seen that have provided patios for smokers seem to not put them at the front entrance. But I still see people that stand out front of places and finish their smoke before going in.

We have these same laws here in the states. I can say that a lot of people seemed to not be happy about them at first but it really doesn't seem to have effected the bars business. It might have at the very beginning but not for long. I personally think it is a good idea. I am a smoker and wish I was not but I had already made the change not to smoke in public places.

Some bars here in the Philippines implement the same policy. There are bar owners here who do not want to do the same because they know that most of their patrons are smokers.

let whatever smokers feel, i think the move has reduced the passive smoking of millions of people and children, which is a good thing.

Here the bars didn't have a choose in the matter. They weren't happy about the laws but they seem to have adjusted to them. So I just feel in the end it's just better for everyone all around. The bar owner's also had a decrease in their insurance so that helped them in away.

I too agree with the ban, i first experienced it in Italy before they brought it to the Uk. Its so nice to come home at the end of an evening without smelling like an ashtray!
Talking of Patio heaters!! there are talks of banning those too as they are 'apparently' bad for the environment! now they are going to far, i actually felt sorry for smokers when i heard that one.

Non-smokers will be happy & smokers will be disappointed to hear this ban.In many countries, smoking is banned in public places.Lately, now it is here.Everyone should accept it gladly & should abide by this rule strictly.

I agree totally with this law because of the effects of second hand smoke. The only problem I have is when they tax smokers and use the taxes to build an open air stadium and then don't allow smoking anywhere. I just find that somewhat hypocritical.

Smoking is bad for health. It deserves to be banned. I wonder why people smoke even though they know the circumstances. I hate smoking. Smoking in the public effects other people too.
