Lorries Damaging Old Bridge 2008/02/05 21:05 Karma: 1
I just read a news story that satellite GPS systems have been causing heavy lorries to take the 'quickest path' which has resulted in substantial damage to ancient bridges.

Have you read news of this yet? The community in Abingdon is calling for weight restrictions on these bridges and I wholeheartedly agree that this should be implemented because we are going to lose many historical sites and cultural preservations if not careful.

Do you have a link to this story or something about it? I am somewhat confused on how the GPS systems are doing this? Hopefully they will figure something out because it would be a shame to keep damaging historical sites. Thanks

This is a problem. Are authorities doing anything about it yet? They should act soon and try to save the historical sites. I never knew GPS could be so destructive. I guess it's a matter of perspective.
